Economic Development & Project Development

Lemery Greisler has been a leading force in economic and project development in the region for over 20 years. In the arena of economic development, we shepherd our clients through all aspects of the industrial development and agency process. This can involve working with local economic development agencies to help our clients find appropriate sites, filing site plan applications, and gathering teams of consultants who will work on the site plan, the storm water management plan, and the engineering work, including gaining required air permits from the Department of Environmental Conservation and other environmental compliance. We then help in getting the project through the planning and zoning boards, and work with the seller of the property on the sale of the land. Locating financing that might be available for a client's project is also a skill that Lemery Greisler brings to the table. To that end, we're pleased to represent a number of area banks. Thus, part of our economic development role is to introduce our clients to banks that may have an interest in financing them. We also liaise with state and government agencies to locate grants or low-interest loans that might be available to them. In appropriate cases, we are able to secure energy credits from the state Energy Research Development Corporation or work with utility companies to gain Empire Zone status for our clients.

Overall, our Firm sees economic and project development as an opportunity to discover how to work with companies and municipalities to create economic opportunity for our fellow citizens. Where companies already exist but may be struggling, we attempt to find solutions to keep them in the area. In a tough economic climate, our job, as we see it, is to help.
